My Family, Me and My iPhone on Martha’s Vineyard, Day 1

feature photo

We took the 7 am ferry out of Woods Hole and arrived in Vineyard Haven 45 minutes laterThe clouds were starting to break and the sun portended the start of a beautiful day. . I tracked our trip across Nantucket Sound using the iPhone GPS.

Our traditional first stop is breakfast at Linda Jeans, on Circuit Ave in Oak Bluffs. I had “The Mess,” a 3 egg omelette with spinach, onion, and swiss cheese, with hash browns, a butter milk biscuit and a tall glass of grapefruit Juice. Our house wouldn’t be ready for occupancy until 12 noon, so we after breakfast we headed over to Cedar Tree Neck Sanctuary for a trail walk to shed off that awesome breakfast. If you like trail walks, Cedar Tree Neck has some great ones, we like taking Iron Brook to an ocean outlook. Click here for some interesting history on the spot.

All these pictures were taken with my iPhone, just the raw photos, no retouching.

Once we got to the house, we spent a couple of hours unpacking and settling in, then spent a few hours on Lamberts Cove Beach, came home and collected out selves. Above in the gallery is the satellite and close up view of the Lamberts Cove Beach from my iPhone.

After the beach we came back to the house, unpacked and settled a bit, then finished the day by going back to Lamberts Cove with Gyasi the Ridgeback, to watch the sun set. This picture wasn’t taken with the iPhone. I used a Canon PowerShot A590 8 megapixel on manual mode with the ISO set to 80.

I like your Blogs on Apple but who cares about your vacation. But please keep your personal life to yourself. It just shows to people just how important you think you are.
  • Well your point is duly noted. And to answer your question, I care about my vacation. It's the only one I take every year. But I promise that I'll do my best to publish my normal posts for the next two weeks while enjoying the thing I treasure most in this life, quality time with my family.

kinda harsh don't you think? its not your blog.

Jim, I care about his vacation. Get a grip.
  • Zach - enjoy your vacation and keep writing about it... this is a blog not a S&P report. There are very few companies in the world the size of Apple and retains innovation.

You have correctly stated about your site :
"Zach's take on Apple, the markets, and life pursuits, will keep your mind tuned."

    APPLE to 200 and beyond!!!

  • i phone is just the tool you need, when I bought it for the first time I wasn't this much excited to see the simple stuff, but now far as I'm filling it with application, this thing is becoming really very powerful to move around with.

Breathtaking views. Especially the one overlooking the sunset, very relaxing and captivating. I'd love to take my family there and take them out on different activities like hiking, swimming, and explore the scenic view aboard an inflatable boat.
  • Please disregard the hater Zach. I appreciate you sharing your vacation along with your insights. Lambert's Cove, definitely one of the many places I'd have to visit with my family. From the looks of it alone, I'm sure we're gonna be havin' fun there! Thanks for sharing mate!
