iPhone 3G Review, New 2.0 Firmware is Great!
If you’re a current iPhone owner, you’re going to get a lot of bang for the buck with the new iPhone 2.0 operating system. But is it worth upgrading to the new iPhone 3G? Well, that depends on your personal situation, for example will you be using the iPhone in an area where 3G is available? If not, then you have to decide if the new 2.0 firmware features are enough to justify the extra cost and shorter battery life. Here are some of the highlights:
- Free Firmware Upgrade for iPhone Owners
Online Wireless App Store
Greatly Improved Audio Quality on 3G iPhone
Special Headphone Plug Not Required!
Our favorite Macophiles, Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal, and David Pogue of the New York Times, both released their reviews well in advance of the new Super Duper Phone release. The bottom line is that if you don’t currently own an iPhone, this is one sweet pickup! But there are caveats you should be aware of, so read these reviews to make an informed decision.
My advice is, if you currently own an iPhone, sell it on EBay for big bucks and use the proceeds to slip into the new 3G! You can easily get $350 for the 8 GB version! Apparently there’s a huge market for those that don’t have 3G access or want an unlocked iPhone. Man, that would pay for a new 16 GB iPhone 3G plus a nice accessory!
Full Disclosure: I’m giving my old iPhone to my youngest daughter. Then both of my girls will be iPhone mavens. Now to work on the wife.
